JS Moore, author of "Understanding Apples", is in the middle of completing his next book titled "Gathering Leaves". It is a collection of short stories about characters from all over the region - from Cosby, Newport, Kingsport, Johnson City, Hampton, Elizabethton, Surgoinsville, Bristol, Rogersville and other areas of Northeast Tennessee and Virginia. From any journey - whether geographic or imaginative, the most important keepsake is the reminder that people's lives are fortified by family and friends; by our ability to create our lives like planting a tree and watching it reach to the heavens. There is and should always be a great and cherished appreciation for life itself and the priceless importance of our connections to one another. "Gathering Leaves" is about those connections. I sent out an invitation in the first book for anyone wishing to tell a story or share a picture to contact me and the response has been very good. There are already some contributing authors that will featured in this next body of work. I believe in the power of stories. If these stories are not preserved, they will be lost. Feel free to contact me. I look to have this ready to publish by the end of 2007.
